I just wanted to mention that I came across this little nugget in the gzip manpage the other night:<\/p>\n<pre>--rsyncable\r\n    While compressing, synchronize the output occasionally \r\n    based on the input. This increases size by less than \r\n    1 percent most cases, but means that the rsync(1) program \r\n    can much more efficiently synchronize files compressed \r\n    with this flag. gunzip cannot tell the difference between \r\n    a compressed file created with this option, and one \r\n    created without it.<\/pre>\n<p>That, I think, is pretty cool.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gzip and Rsync were sitting in a tree, k-i-s- Ok, I&#8217;ll stop.
